Dhamma-sakaccha is a Pali word meaning
"discussion about Dhamma," that is, conversation concerning
Natural Truth & Causality and how to live life according to Natural Truth. Ajarn
Buddhadasa encouraged healthy, intelligent discussion of Dhamma. In
fact, in a famous poem he left behind for his disciples, he said that
Buddhadasa will not die if ...
Treat me as if I never died,
as though I am with you all as before.
Speak up whatever is on your minds
as if I sit with you helping point out the facts.
Treat me as if I never died,
then many streams of benefits will accrue.
Don't forget the days we set aside
for Dhamma discussion;
Realize the Absolute and stop dying!
Here, Tan Ajarn is not talking about some sort of eternalism in which
a
soul or spirit is hanging around to listen. After all, nobody is
actually born; so he is there to die? Rather, the spirit of
Buddhadasa, the Servant of the Lord Buddha, will manifest among us
whenever we honestly explore the Dhamma together. This
"spirit" is within each of us and manifests more openly when
we share the Dhamma together.
Dhamma should not be a one way flow from teachers, books, websites,
or whatever. Passive reception is not what the Buddha taught. Thus, we
hope to encourage a multi-logue among those who are interested in the
way Buddha-Dhamma is presented at Suan Mokkh, on this site, and at
Liberation Park.
