The friends & allies -- local activists, academics, students, & monks -- who have supported and organized past Dhamma-Yatras continue to explore local realities, problems, and their solutions. The style of the 5th Dhamma-Yatra remains similar to recent years. See details below & on related pages.

RouteIn 2000, we will again walk in both Songkhla and Phattalung provinces.
Start at Pak Payoon district in Phattalung Province.
Walk across Koh Maak, the longest of the islands in the middle part of the lake.
Cross over to the Sating Phra peninsula at Khu Kuut, and then visit a number of communities, including on the Gulf side. This area was settled at least a millennium ago & has an ancient history with old temples, stupas, & ruins.
We will walk around Koh Yai (Big Island), no longer separated from the peninsula, and to other parts of Grasae Sindh district.
The walk ends at Wat Jedi Ngam, an ancient temple & cultural treasure, that is threatened by a nearby oil refinery.
