SEED:
Within all persons, peoples, and cultures there
is a seed of spirituality, divinity, & the deepest humanity that can never be
corrupted. Life's duty is to nurture this seed. It is happening already; we need only
acknowledge, honor, & serve this highest purpose of life.
|
SOIL:
This seed is planted within specific times
& places surrounded by particular languages, value systems, customs, ecologies, &
religious traditions -- in short, cultures & social structures. Healthy, rich soil
encourages the seed within each of us to grow to its fullest potential. Insuring that the
cultural-social social is rich & abundant is the moral imperative of social
transformation.
|
WHOLENESS:
Through the inner developing of the seed of our humanity interacting
with the cultural conditions around us -- whether wholesome or harmful -- our lives unfold
together in the ever changing dance of time. We do not pass through this life alone; we
are all in this together with all other beings, moving towards wholeness and health,
beyond ourselves.
|
SUSTAINABILITY:
All living things to sustain themselves through
both their survival mechanisms & reproduction. When we are in harmony with the others
in our local global ecologies, we sustain both ourselves and that which sustains us. This
respectful attitude towards life is an urgent imperative today.
|
IMMERSION:
By plunging deeply into the reality of the here & now, we can
recognize the truth of the various forces at work within and around us. This is especially
true when we immerse ourselves in the suffering caused by selfish structures both within
ourselves and in society. These truths -- such as inter-relatedness & ceaseless
transformation -- illuminate the patterns of our relationships and the social structures
they create.
|
MINDFULNESS:
Calm, observant, presence to the constantly
shifting
coming & going of daily experience; non-judgmental awareness
of the lived experience of this moment; keeps us in touch
with these sustaining truths & realities. It isn't so much more doing that is needed;
we act as a matter of course. The essential task is to see freshly, clearly, freely as we
experience & respond to life in all its aspects, layers, and challenges.

RIGHT
RELATIONSHIPS: Asian Rainbow seeks to help all the peoples of Asian, and the world,
to rediscover and recover the kind of relationships with others, with society, with
nature, with Truth, with ourselves, that are most suited to our humanity, to the seed ever
luminous within us all.
|
COMMUNITY:
We have recently decided to work together as an
informal community of friends, rather than take on a formal organizational structure.
This reflects our history of cooperation since 1990 and our vision of human relationships.
We meet when we can and are in regular contact in order to reflect together on our
experience and work, on social realities and Asian social movements today, and on the role
of spirituality and culture in all of the above. From time to time we collaborate with
more formal organizations in staging trainings and workshops related to our key concerns
and process methodologies. We have no budget, paid staff, or fixed rules.
