Buddhist Reflections on the 9-11 Tragedies
& others Likely to Follow

As we watched the caving in of the WTC towers and the ensuing chaos, as we listened to the media commentary, and as we find our political leadership calling for war, we have tried to bring Buddhist perspectives to bear on this tragedy and its aftermath. At first a personal practice, some reflections have emerged to share with others.

This is the index page to various reflections by (then) Santikaro Bhikkhu, Bhikshuni Thubten Chodron, and some friends concerning the 9-11 violence and what may follow. Some aren't quite ready for posting.

Not all of these are overtly Buddhist or straight-forward Buddhist teachings. Some attempt to deal with political issues. Throughout, they express our understanding and practice of Dhamma.

Immediate Aftermath: Feelings ... Thoughts ...

Some reflections from the day it happened.

Two monks hoping for peace

Santikaro Bhikkhu (Buddhist monk) responds to Fr. Laurence Freeman (Christian monk) soon after the tragic events took place.

Statement of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship

Statement from the pre-eminent social engaged Buddhist network in the United States.

Personal healing: Dhamma & Nature

A personal turning point for Ven. Santikaro as he explored the profound sadness of the events and our times.

More reflections can be found on our "sister site" -- www.liberationpark.org ...

It's easier to update them in one place, rather than both.
